The Farm Story
Catskill Merino Sheep Farm
Saxon Merino sheep graze pastures in the town of Goshen New York, 60 miles north of Manhattan and west of the Hudson River; the flock produces superfine merino wool and premium lamb naturally.

Grassy pastures slope gently into an ancient lake bed called the Black Dirt; the weather is mild, the rainfall is ample, the sheep thrive on this fertile land.

A sheep farm is green fields and red barns, old tractors and good dogs; it is a place of health, of breeding and of birth.
With the arrival of the Saxon Merino rams imported from Australia in 1990, Catskill Merino ewes have been bred and selected to produce exquisite wool and the best of lamb.

In the spring before the ewes lamb, the flock is shorn and their wool is spun into soft merino yarn at a small spinnery nearby.

The yarn is hand-dyed on the farm and sold online from the Yarn Store as is pasture raised lamb sold online from the Lamb Store. And both are available at the farm stand on Saturday at Union Square in New York City.
