Sheep, Wool, Yarn and Colors
We sell yarn; it all starts with our sheep. Saxon Merinos produce the finest and most exquisite wool in the world and have for centuries; the breed has a most fascinating history.

Saxon Merino Lambs Graze On The Farm In New York
We shear our sheep in the Spring and have their wool custom spun into yarn at the Green Mountain Spinnery in six unique weights.
Worsted, 2 oz (50 g), 140 yd, 5 stitches per inch on US 8
Bulky, 4 oz (100 g), 140 yd, 3.5 stitches per inch on US 10
Sport 2 ply, 2 oz (50 g), 175 yd, 6.5 stitches per inch on US 5
Fingering 2 ply, 2 oz (50 g), 225 yd, 7.5 stitches per inch on US 3
Lace, 2 oz (50 g), 350 yd, 8 stitches per inch on US 2
Super Bulky, 4 oz (100 g), 110 yd, 4 stitches per inch on US 15
Green Mountain is a artisanal spinnery. They are willing to spin our ideas into yarn; they make a strong fiber with the correct amount of twist permitting the softness of our wool to be appreciated in the finished garment.

Lace Yarn
Every week we hand-dye yarn using both natural and modern dyes on the farm; our yarn colors are many: tried-and-true, experimental, repeatable or one-of-a-kind, but they are always in special relationships and are always in limited editions.
If you want to know what's new at the farm, follow us on Twitter or read the Farm Newsletter where we'll announce recently spun Saxon Merino yarn and the new colors we've dyed.
