Windfall Farms

Posted 5/31/2010 3:31pm by Eugene Wyatt.

Jack, the son of Liza and David who attended the wedding of Andrea and Matt at Windfall Farms on Memorial Day Sunday.  We all met at Greenmarket.

Posted 10/14/2009 8:42pm by Eugene Wyatt.

Celebrations at Windfall Farms begin with a bonfire that blazes late into the night.  And on the day that we commemorate Columbus for discovering America, so too we celebrate Matt (former Greenmarket manager) and Andrea (former maple syrup girl at Greenmarket) as they embark on the adventure of life together.  God speed to our voyagers and may they find that passage to the riches of the Indies.

The bonfire

Sound Check: Andrea, Morse & Mitchell

The evening featured a performance led by the guest of honor, Andrea Maddox.  I enjoyed  the verve of the show and wrote Andrea asking who the players, that I didn't know, were; this was not Mostly Mozart, but mostly Greenmarket; yet there were some new faces.  Her reply interested me as she detailed how the performance came together:

"The show was a small collaboration between me and the actors.  Four of the songs were my original songs and the other three were depression era songs (Brother Can You Spare a Dime, Go Away From My Window, Hallelujah I'm a Bum)  I wanted to do a show with the songs that I wrote in combination with some ideas that I had been working on and tie them into what we are all dealing with as far as the "recession" goes.  I like to create theater that is entertaining, witty, and relevant to our lives in some way or another. History obviously repeats itself, so the depression era songs were immediately relevant.   I created this show in the style of the slapstick burlesque shows that I produced in the past - yet for a family audience.  I like to work with people that I've collaborated with before to put together a rough and rowdy show (with as few rehearsals as possible) that is fun and provocative on many levels.  We had three totals rehearsals, the last rehearsal on the day of the show was the only one with all performers present and all of us but Morse were so hungover we could barely see straight!!!!!!  But we pulled it together and I think it went pretty well.

The accordion player/band leader is
Mitchell Yoshida, he is the crucial component to all of my shows, a true musical genius and long time provocative collaborator.

Morse Pitts on mandolin, awesome musician, incredibly supportive and welcoming of all creative collaborations.

Jamie Graham was the lead actress, she is a professional dancer and another one of my favorite co-collborators from the burlesque shows.

Tim Wersan is an comedian, actor and manager of Windfall Farms Greenmarket stand.  He and I first started working on the show at 4am one Saturday morning as we drove down to market.  He is insanely funny and inspirational.

Collin Mackenzie Smith
is an actor and pretzel boy for Martin's Pretzels.  He was a little trepidatious at first when I told him there was no script, but he was an awesome contribution when he realized it was "just a clown show."

Kevin Caplicki of Windfall Farms painted the signs, he is a member of the justseeds.org artists cooperative.

Jeff Miller, Morse's nephew built the stage in under an hour in the dark.

Carl Welden an actor, lighting designer and voice over performer based in Rosendale, designed the lights and sound an hour before show time.

So for the winter show, I'm thinking of serial parlor shows... a series of small, intimate shows in Morse's parlor..."

Now Playing

And Matt?  Oh yes, he's the good looking one who's not in the picture.
